How long is each program day?
Programs typically run 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the school’s dismissal time and schedule.

How many weeks is a session?
Most after-school sessions run 6–10 weeks, depending on the season and school calendar.

What ages can participate?
Programs are designed for elementary students, usually grades K–5. Exact age groups vary by school.

Do kids need special gear?
Nope! Just weather-appropriate clothes and a water bottle. We provide all materials, tools, and activity supplies.

Is this a drop-off program?
Yes for the Park Program, and no for school-based programs since students transition directly from dismissal.

What happens in bad weather?
We run in rain, snow, and shine, and adjust activities to keep kids safe and comfortable.
If dangerous conditions arise, we notify families and schedule a make-up day whenever possible.

Can my child join mid-session?
This depends on space and school policy. Reach out and we’ll see what’s possible.

Are instructors background checked?
Yes - all Rugged Research naturalists and educators undergo full background checks and training.
